Project Snapshot

  • Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD

  • Duration: 5 days

  • Team: 3 gardeners

  • Green waste: 6 full 5 × 8 trailer loads

  • Service: Major property clean-up and heavy garden clearing

  • Outcome: We transformed an overgrown, unusable backyard into a neat, open space, taking away the stress and giving the owner a yard they can enjoy, rent out or prepare for sale.

When We Opened the Side Gate...

When we first walked through the side gate at this Buderim property, our jaws hit the floor.

Weeds over 4 feet high.

Thick vines covering the fences.

A garden shed almost completely hidden.

No clear path to safely walk through the backyard.

Severely overgrown trees and fresh shoots throughout the property

It wasn't just overgrown, it had reached the point where most homeowners would feel so overwhelmed and wouldn’t know where to begin.

Why This Needed More Than a Mow

When a backyard reaches this stage, a complete garden clean-up is needed before regular garden maintenance can even begin.

  • You couldn't see where you were walking.

  • Thick vegetation created hiding places for snakes, spiders, rats and wasps.

  • Vines had climbed over fences and around the house.

  • Access to the shed and parts of the yard was almost impossible.

  • A normal mower simply wasn't going to handle it.

It had become a major gardening and property clean-up job, not simply an overdue lawn mow.

The Background

The owner had moved out around six months earlier.

Unfortunately, the garden wasn’t maintained during that time.

By the time we were contacted, the backyard had completely got out of hand.

How We Brought The Backyard Back Under Control

We first brought in an industrial-grade slasher to knock down the heavy growth and create safe access through the backyard.

From there, we worked through the property one section at a time.

Over five days, we:

  • Slashed the heavy overgrowth.

  • Pulled thick vines off the fences and trees.

  • Removed overgrown shoots, unwanted regrowth and small weed trees.

  • Pruned overgrown plants.

  • Whipper-snipped around the property.

  • Mowed the lawn.

  • Applied targeted weed treatment.

  • Removed 6 full 5×8 trailer loads of green waste.

The wet weather made a hard job even harder.

Heavy rain had left the ground soft and muddy.

Every vine, branch and pile of weeds was soaking wet, making the garden work slower, heavier and much more physical.

The Result

Five days later, it was hard to believe it was the same backyard.

We finally had:

  • A visible fence.

  • A usable side gate.

  • A garden shed you could actually get to.

  • A backyard again.

  • Clear access around the property.

A Blank Canvas

This backyard clean-up wasn’t about creating a beautifully landscaped garden.

It was about getting the property back under control and giving the owner options again.

The owner can now:

  • Prepare the property for sale.

  • Rent it out

  • Add mulch or new garden beds.

  • Create a veggie patch.

  • Plant a new garden

  • Keep it simple and tidy while deciding what to do next

Sometimes the biggest garden transformation isn't adding something new.

It’s clearing away the overgrowth so the property can be safely accessed and used again.

Ongoing Garden Maintenance

Getting the backyard back under control was the hard part.

We’re now returning every few weeks to provide regular garden maintenance, including:

  • Lawn mowing and edging

  • Pruning

  • Hedge trimming

  • Weeding and weed treatment

  • General garden work and tidy-ups

This keeps the property manageable and prevents it from turning into another major garden clean-up.

A major garden clean-up creates the blank canvas.

Regular maintenance keeps your yard neat and tidy all year round.

Why We Do Fixed-Price Garden Cleanups

Big gardens worry people for one reason:

“How much is this going to blow out?”

We price these properly upfront because, based on experience, we know:

how much green waste needs to be removed

how much mulch it takes

how long it actually takes to finish

So you get a clear outcome, not a running bill.

Large Garden Clean-up Questions

1. How long does a large garden clean-up take?

It depends on:

  • The size of the property

  • How dense the overgrowth is

  • The amount of pruning or hedge trimming required

  • Whether edging, mulching or other soft landscaping is included

  • Weather and ground conditions

  • The amount of green waste to be removed

Some garden tidy-ups take a few hours.

Large property clean-ups can take several days.

This Buderim project took a three-person team five days.

2. What is included in a garden clean-up?

The exact work depends on the property, but a garden clean-up may include:

  • Weeding and weed treatment

  • Pruning shrubs, palms and established plants

  • Hedging or hedge trimming

  • Removing unwanted regrowth or small trees

  • Pulling vines from fences and plants

  • Lawn mowing and edging

  • Whipper-snipping

  • Clearing paths and access areas

  • Mulching

  • Garden edging

  • Soft landscaping

  • Green waste removal

3. How much does a garden clean-up cost in Buderim?

The price depends on

  • how overgrown the property is

  • what work is required

  • how much green waste needs to be removed.

For example, one garden may need

  • pruning

  • weeding

  • a general tidy-up

Another yard may require

  • heavy slashing

  • vine removal

  • large hedge reductions

  • garden edging

  • mulching

  • planting

  • several trailer loads of green waste

Our garden clean-ups generally range from approximately $1,500 for a smaller clean-up to $15,000 for a major property clean-up or garden reset.

We inspect the property and provide a clear fixed-price quote based on the actual scope of work.

4. Can you just clean up one part of the garden?

Yes. Some clients start with:

We can discuss which areas should be prioritised and what will make the biggest difference.

Aluminium garden edging and mulch completed as part of a Buderim garden clean-up and soft landscaping project

5. Do you remove all the green waste?

Yes. Green waste created by the agreed garden work is loaded, removed and disposed of as part of the project.

The amount of green waste is an important part of the quote because heavy garden clean-ups can produce far more material than homeowners expect.

6. Can you save existing plants?

Where practical, yes.

We identify established plants worth retaining and prune or clear around them. Unwanted weeds, overgrown shoots, unwanted regrowth and plants that are no longer suitable may need to be removed.

The goal is to bring the garden back under control while keeping the plants that still suit the property.

7. Do you provide pruning and hedge trimming as part of the clean-up?

Yes, when included in the scope.

Many garden clean-ups involve a combination of:

  • Shrub pruning

  • Palm cleaning

  • Hedge trimming

  • Removing dead or unwanted growth

  • Cutting back plants from paths, fences and the house

Larger trees or specialist arborist work may need to be referred to a qualified tree contractor.

8. Can you add mulch, garden edging or new planting afterwards?

Yes. Once the heavy clearing is complete, some properties are ready for basic soft landscaping such as:

  • Steel, aluminium or plastic garden edging

  • Mulching

  • Weed mat

  • Garden rock

  • Simple planting

  • Redefining garden beds

For this particular Buderim property, the immediate goal was to clear the overgrowth so the backyard can be used safely.

Aluminium garden edging and fresh mulch installed after a Buderim garden clean-up to create a neat, low-maintenance garden bed.

9. Can you prepare an overgrown garden for sale or rent?

Yes. We can clear overgrowth, prune plants, open up paths and access areas, mow the lawn, and remove the green waste.

For a property being sold or rented, the aim is usually to leave the yard:

  • Neat and cared for

  • Easy to walk through and inspect

  • Easier for a tenant/buyer to maintain

  • Presentable for buyers to picture themselves living there

This project left the owner with a clean blank canvas they could use, rent out or prepare for sale.

10. How often should the garden be maintained after a major clean-up?

It depends on the property, season and types of plants.

For this Buderim property, we’re returning every two to three weeks.

Regular garden maintenance may include lawn mowing, edging, pruning, hedge trimming, weeding and general garden care.

The schedule can be adjusted between faster summer growth and slower winter conditions.

11. What suburbs do you service?
